Why is Bitcoin interesting? For me, Bitcoin is a novelty in society. For the first time in human history, there is an economic good with validatable, unchangeable scarcity. This alone brings many advantages, especially in times of high inflation and uncertainty. For me, Bitcoin is becoming a new standardized measure of opportunity cost, especially in terms of investment opportunities. In future, every financial asset must be measured against this new benchmark.
My touchpoints with Bitcoin so far: I have been working intensively on the topic of Bitcoin since 2020 and have already been able to acquire a great deal of knowledge through self-study. However, I very quickly realized that it was necessary to consider a variety of scientific disciplines in order to gain a basic understanding of its complexity. So in 2023, as a first step, I took part in the MOOC Digital Currencies at the University of Nicosia (taught by Andreas Antonopoulos). In 2024, I focused even more intensively on my favorite topic, through the Bitcoin Talents program and through my MBA master’s thesis in the field of ESG on the topic of the carbon footprint and energy efficiency of Bitcoin.
