Short Bio: Amna Usman Chaudhry is a financial economist and strategist for frontier technologies such as Blockchain, Generative AI and Web 3.0. She is a graduate-level lecturer with teaching experience in London and Dubai. Amna is a Founder and Board Member, experienced in working with influential global organizations, including the United Nations. She is an advocate for diversity, equity and inclusion, as well as sustainability. Amna has been listed by Innovate Finance on the Women in Fintech Powerlist twice, is the Global Winner of the Woman in Web 3.0 Award, listed on the Top 10 Women in Crypto Powerlist and was recognized as one of the Top 100 Women of the Future.

When and what was your first touchpoint with ReFi & Blockchain?: I was part of the first cohort of the University of Oxford’s Blockchain Strategy programme and learnt how blockchain can be very constructive in solving a number of global problems, including climate change. In 2018, I was co-founder of an initiative that used tokenization on blockchain to help decrease plastic pollution.
What fascinates you most about ReFi?: Its potential to reshape finance from short term profit driven measures to a model rooted in sustainable, regenerative principles that support positive social impact and benefit the planet.
Your favorite ReFi Influencer: I respect everyone who works towards making social positive impact on our planet, and there are many in ReFi, for example Gregory Landua whose presentation and interview with an indigenous leader which the ReFi Talents programme hosted, that was both interesting and insightful.
Your best knowledge resource in the blockchain space?: I can recommend the Oxford Blockchain Strategy programme by University of Oxford and also all the Web 3.0 Talents programmes by Frankfurt School Blockchain Centre such as ReFi Talents, DeFi Talents and more. Other great resources include Bankless, a16z crypto, Messari, World Economic Forum and more.
My favorite ReFi project? Again, I respect all the ReFi projects creating positive impact on our planet, including and not limited to KlimaDAO, Regen Network and Toucan
