Why is blockchain interesting?
Blockchain in development cooperation can revolutionize aid distribution by ensuring transparency and accountability in funding allocation and project implementation. It offers a secure and immutable record of transactions, which can help track the flow of funds and prevent corruption. By streamlining processes and reducing intermediaries, blockchain technology has the potential to maximize the impact of development aid, empowering communities and fostering sustainable growth.
My touchpoints with blockchain and DLT so far: In my current role as a project manager, I oversee social cash transfer projects in Zambia
and Zimbabwe. New technologies offer new ways of thinking and opportunities in reaching
the Sustainable Development Goals more efficient. For example, the social cash transfers are made available to the beneficiaries via digital payment tools. These can then be paid into a mobile money account. Here, blockchain technology offers the possibility of encrypting personal data more securely.
